Magnolia photoshoot in Prague | Spring mini sessions at Grébovka and Vojanovy Sady
When magnolias bloom in Prague – and where to find them
Prague’s magnolia season typically falls in late March to mid-April, depending on the year. The bloom lasts only 1-2 weeks, which makes it one of the most fleeting (and most photographed) moments of the Prague spring.
The best spots to catch the blossoms:
- Vojanovy sady – park close to the Charles Bridge, intimate and lush
- Grébovka (Havlíčkovy sady) – a beautiful hillside park with a few magnolia trees
- Náměstí Míru – square with a few magnolia trees around
- Valdštejnská zahrada – beautiful alley on one side close to pond(but it’s already prohibited to photograph professional there)

Who is this for?
Anyone who wants beautiful spring portraits without the pressure of a “formal” shoot. My clients come for new social media content, a gift to themselves, or simply because they’ve always wanted photos in the magnolia bloom and finally decided to make it happen.
You don’t need a new outfit – but a few small choices make a big difference in photos.
Colors that work great with magnolias:
- Soft, muted tones – cream, ivory, blush, dusty rose, sage, warm beige
- Classic neutrals – white, light grey, camel, soft denim
- Deeper accents – terracotta, burgundy, forest green (great for contrast without competing with the blossom)
What to avoid:
- Bright neons or very saturated colours – they draw the eye away from your face and the flowers
- Bold busy prints or logos – these tend to date quickly and distract in portraits
- Exact white-on-white if the magnolias are white (you’ll blend into the background)
Style-wise: Think effortless over formal. Flowy fabrics, linen, soft knitwear – anything that moves naturally looks stunning among spring trees. You don’t need to be dressed up; you need to feel like yourself, just a slightly prettier version of your Tuesday morning.
One practical note: Prague in early April can still be cool in the mornings – layering is your friend. A light trench coat or oversized blazer over a simple top photographs just as well as a dress, and you’ll actually be comfortable.
